Calm Through the Storm..
As I sit here in our Florida location (which is not up and running yet as I can barely operate NJ), I am spinning trying to navigate a transport which was to arrive in Jersey on Tuesday (when i was already back) and is now arriving Monday. Thank goodness for our village as 4 volunteers are jumping to action. Once transport arrives, we assess the 4 pups health & affect, confirm all of their vetting & vaccination records are intact, and finally decide (based on personalities) if they are ready for adoption or require decompression time. All that has to take place without me since my flight is not until Tuesday. For a control freak such as myself, this is a true challenge. In the meanwhile, everyday I receive messages for dogs being surrendered, Animal Control asking for help to catch a stray, adopters with questions.
Rescue work is not a thankless job. We rarely receive thanks from humans but that is ok. We don’t rescue for humans, rather we rescue FROM humans. We rescue from the neglect, mistreatment and miseducation of ourselves.
